Caution: Because self-cleaning ovens require very high temperatures for clean operation, always remove the oven thermometer first. Do not use a scouring pad or other abrasive substance to clean the stainless steel thermometer scale. If it does not clean easily in the dishwasher, soak the thermometer overnight in dishwashing detergent.
